We saw them rearranging and reconstructing their bodies,
joints clicking into place, granting motion to appendages
of impenetrable exoskeleton. They looked like us, but
only enough to mock us. What was at first chittering
and clattering took on the sound of laughter. Again
recognizable, but only recognizable. A charade as
clear as their hats and gowns, more befitting of
a stage play than our own present reality.
